Only specialists should diagnose Parkinson's disease "Family doctors should refer patients with suspected Parkinson's disease promptly to a specialist rather than try and diagnose it themselves, recommends guidance on the diagnosis and management of the disease, published this week . Patients with suspected mild disease should be seen within six weeks, while new referrals with more advanced disease and more complex problems should be given a specialist appointment within two weeks."
